The following is a letter I received from Patrick J. Mullaly (patmullaly@msn.com).
Dear Mullaly Family Member,
My father, Robert Carroll Mullaly (born August 30, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio and currently residing in Rootstown, Ohio) and I, Patrick James Mullaly (born January 12, 1956 in
Ravenna, Ohio and currently residing in Taylorsville, Utah) are trying to tie our family tree to it's specific origins in Ireland so that family research may be pursued there. The following is our known family line:
Great, great grandfather, William Mullaly was born in Ireland in the year 1843. He left Ireland and arrived in the Youngstown, Ohio area in 1869. He worked in the Brown-Bonnel Steel Mill. He met and married Mary
Bourke (1850 - 1935) and raised 9 children. William died in 1924. Both he and Mary are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
WE BELIEVE THAT WILLIAM WAS BORN IN MAYO OR GALWAY COUNTY IN THE VILLAGE OR TOWNLAND OF CORNFIELD.
William left a sister Mary Bridget, a brother Patrick and another brother, name unknown, in Ireland. He had a brother, Cornelius, who settled in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
Great grandfather, Michael J. Mullaly (1872 - 1962) spent his entire life in Youngstown, Ohio. He worked for the East Ohio Gas Company. His wife, Mary Grace, died in 1952.
Grandfather Raymond Leonard Mullaly (1898 - 1962) married Nellie Carroll (1899 - 1972). They had two sons, Raymond Carroll Mullaly (1925 - present, currently residing in Stow, Ohio), and Robert Carroll Mullaly (1930
- present, currently residing in Rootstown, Ohio). Raymond L. was a machinist.
If you have any information that will assist us in locating specific Counties / Towns of origin, we would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Please mail information to:
